While you're here:
Hahndorf: Australia's oldest surviving German settlement. The main street is an avenue of 100 year-old elm and plane trees. Hahndorf has plenty of shops, art galleries, craft outlets, restaurants, cafes and bakeries along the quaint main street.
The National Motor Museum at Birdwood houses the nation's most important collection of vintage, veteran and classic motorcars and motorcycles.
The Toy Factory at Gumeracha houses the biggest rocking horse in the world. You can climb to the top of the horse, which stands at 18 metres high. Then visit the seven-acre animal park where, among other things, wallabies can be hand-fed. Relax and enjoy a meal or coffee in the licensed, child-friendly cafe, outdoor patio or shaded picnic area.
Cleland Wildlife Park is an open range sanctuary in a natural bushland setting and you can touch and feed some of South Australia's most captivating wildlife in Adelaide's oldest and much loved open range wildlife sanctuary.
Wine: There are more than 33 wineries in the Adelaide Hills selling their wines at welcoming cellar door outlets. Look out for Shaw and Smith, Nepenthe and Lane Vineyard.
