To keep your bike in top shape for the Bupa Challenge Tour presented by The Advertiser, we recommend taking your bike to a credible bike shop for servicing before the ride.
Check your handlebars, seat, tyres and brakes for any wear and tear.
Make sure you check any bearings and attachments for loose parts, stretches in the chain, frayed cables, worn-down brake pads and cables, buckles in your wheels, loose or broken spokes and ensure all accessory attachments are secure and fitted correctly.
You should also make sure you carry spare parts and tools with you on every ride.
Spare tubes, patch kits, tyre levers and basic tools such as a Philips head screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, Allen keys and spanners may come in very handy in a tough situation.
Check the 2018 Bupa Challenge Tour ride guide for more information on preparing your bike for the ride.
