The Santos Tour Down Under is the perfect opportunity for volunteers to make friends and meet new people, learn and develop skills and gain work experience - all this while having fun and helping to put on one of South Australia's most important international events! 

Current positions

Crossover Marshal 

Help provide a safe crossing area for the public, participants and officials, while helping to support trained security personnel in managing the opening and closing of ground-based pedestrian crossover points around the circuit and provide information to the public as required.

Course Traffic Marshal (18 years and over only)

Assist South Australian Police in implementing rolling road closures to permit Santos Tour Down Under riders and support vehicles to travel safely on South Australian roads, among other duties.

City of Adelaide Tour Village Operations Assistant

Assist the Tour Village Manager in the smooth operations of this essential precinct to provide the utmost level of presentation and service to the UCI WorldTour teams and personnel, and the public experience of the precinct.

City of Adelaide Tour Village Greeters

Greeters are the first point-of-contact for all guests entering the City of Adelaide Tour Village and promote and assist with information on both the Santos Tour Down Under and general tourism information.

Recreational Ride Assistant

Recreational Ride Assistants assist with the set-up and pack down of the registration and information area, allocate participant wristbands and pack and distribute gift bags among other duties for the Mini Tour For Kids and Family Ride.

Dining Room Attendant

Dining Room Attendants are responsible for checking access accreditation to the dining room and greeting riders, team officials and staff as they enter the dining room.

Exhibitor Operations Assistant

Assist with deliveries, bump-in and bump-out of exhibitors and, under direction, provide assistance calibrating display areas and equipment, and in helping to facilitate the smooth running of Tour Village opening, closing and day-to-day.

Vehicle Driver

Pick-up and drop-off event vehicles from locations in Adelaide, check vehicles for damage and provide reports accordingly, and remove items from cars prior to return to suppliers.

Event Office Assistant

Provide assistance to the event by undertaking clerical duties, including helping with enquiries from the public, general office assistance, create team packs and many other essential duties.

Onsite Host

Distribute Santos Tour Down Under promotional material to crowds at starts and finishes, assist with tourism-related information and help to prepare vehicles and podium presentations under direction.

Media Centre Volunteers

Help welcome the world's press to Adelaide and provide support to the Santos Tour Down Under media department throughout the course of the event.

Preparing for your application

  1. Read the position description, and select a role that will be a good fit for you
  2. To prepare for your application, you'll need:
- Your personal details handy - address, email, mobile etc.
- A passport-style photo (but you're more than welcome to smile!)
- A record of which years you have volunteered of the event previously
- Your availability for the month of January.

  2. A member of our team will contact you once applications close to advise the outcome of your application, and you may be required to attend an interview
  3. Prior to the event you may be required to complete training relevant to your role, and attend a volunteer briefing.

What are the uniform requirements?

All volunteers will be provided with a shirt and a cap. The volunteer polo must be worn with neat, tidy black or denim pants or knee length shorts/skirt and closed toed comfortable footwear.

Where and when do I get my uniform?

Volunteers will get their uniform at the volunteer briefing. If you are unable to make the volunteer briefing, you will need to pick up your uniform from the event office before your first shift.

When and where do I get my accreditation?

Volunteers are required to pick up their accreditation when checking in for their first shift from the event office if they are meeting in the CBD or pick this up from the event office prior to their first shift if they are meeting out on site. 

When is the event office open?

The event office on Level 1 of the Hilton Hotel will be open from 7am to 7pm from January 2nd to 20th.

When is the volunteer briefing?

The volunteer briefing will be held on Wednesday 5 December from 5.30pm. All volunteers will be expected to attend this briefing to undertake Work Health and Safety and White Level Training.

Will I be provided with food and water?

Water will always be available, ask your shift supervisor if you are not sure where to find water.

If you are rostered on for a shift of 5.5 hours or more a light meal will be provided.
