The Santos Tour Down Under operates fully closed roads for the Cancer Council Helpline Classic and Adelaide City Council Stage 6 race circuits.
At all start and finish locations of the South Australian regional Stages of the Santos Tour Down Under (Stages 1 to 5), the roads will be closed and detour signs will be in place.
A rolling road closure system will be in place for the remainder of the race routes on Stages 1 to 5. This means the police will temporarily close roads for up to 20 minutes to allow the race to pass by.
Once a road has been closed by the police, the riders usually take between 15 to 20 minutes to pass by. After the race convoy, the Green Light Vehicle and the final police escort have passed, the road will open again.
The South Australian police implement the rolling road closure to ensure the safety of the riders and to minimise disruption to the public.
