Road closures

At all start and finish locations of the South Australian regional stages of the Santos Tour Down Under (Stages 1 to 5), the roads will be closed and detour signs will be in place.

In order to facilitate a safe event for both riders and spectators, the Santos Tour Down Under worked in conjuction with host regional councils to implement a series of road closures each day.

Santos Tour Down Under 2014

Generally, the start and finish locations will have fixed road closures for a set period of time. A rolling road closure system will be in place for the remainder of the race routes on Stages 1 to 5. This means the police will temporarily close roads for up to 20 minutes to allow the race to pass by. Once a road has been closed by the police, the riders usually take between 15 to 20 minutes to pass by. After the race convoy, the Green Light Vehicle and the final police escort have passed, the road will open again.

Details on road closures for the 2018 event will be published here later in the year.
