DeTours presented by Settlers Spirits brings friends, food, gin and wine together as part of the Santos Tour Down Under, as we organise a whole day for you, filled with tastings, behind-the-scenes experiences of the race, and scrumptious lunch with fantastic viewing of the race!

    • Barossa: Tuesday 21 January, 2020 – Ziptrak Stage 1 (Tanunda)
    • Adelaide Hills: Wednesday 22 January, 2020 – Novatech Stage 2  (Woodside to Stirling) 
    • McLaren Vale: Sunday 26 January, 2020 – Be Safe Be Seen Stage 6 (McLaren Vale to Willunga Hill) 

Tickets are $220 per person*, per day, and includes:

    • Morning coffees and pastries at the start line
    • Reserved viewing area at the start of the race, including an exclusive supervised pre-race track walkthrough of the teams
    • Tasting experience, which may include a wine tasting, including bread and cheeses, gin tasting, or a chocolate tasting
    • Sumptuous sit-down lunch with premium wines, beer and ciders
    • Return bus transfers from the City of Adelaide Tour Village

Ziptrak Stage 1 - Barossa

8.20am   Meet outside the Hilton Hotel Adelaide

8.40am  Transfer from Adelaide to Tanunda

10.00am  Arrive Barossa Valley Way, Tanunda

Experience an exclusive walk through of the Santos Tour Down Under start line and team preparation area for Ziptrak Stage 1 where you will view the Race start from a reserved viewing area whilst sipping coffee and nibbling on a selection of pastries provided just for you.

This stage is following a new route for 2020, completing numerous loops of the Barossa, starting and finishing in Tanunda.  

11.00am  Stage start 

11.05am  Depart Tanunda for Seppeltsfield 

11.20am  Arrive Seppeltsfield  

Seppeltsfield Estate, established in 1851, is one of Australia’s premiere wine destinations. The DeTours tasting experience will be held in the historic Trophy Cellar. Guests will enjoy a selection of Seppeltsfield still, sparkling and fortified wines, (including 21-Year Old Single Vintage Tawny) served with FINO sourdough bread, Vasse Virgin Olive Oil and a selection of Barossa Valley Cheese Company cheeses. The tasting, hosted by a Seppeltsfield wine educator, will be an experience to remember. 

12.20pm  Depart Seppeltsfield for Vintners Bar and Grill, Angaston

12.40pm  Arrive Vintners Bar and Grill

Enjoy a three-course lunch at Vintners Bar and Grill while watching the race sweep past on three occasions before finishing in Tanunda. Vintners specialises in giving a modern twist to both new and traditional ingredients from across South Australia. Backing on to the Barossa Farmers Market, the team at Vintners are treated to a first-hand look at the local produce changing with the seasons, and are able to source the freshest ingredients. Surrounded by vineyards, the restaurant encapsulates what the Barossa does best; exceptional views, friendly service, and outstanding food.

Finish off your day with a Gin and Tonic at the Settlers Spirits bar in the City of Adelaide Tour Village. Settlers Spirits is one of Australia’s most delicious handcrafted and boutique gin and spirits distillers.

Settlers Artisan Spirits are 100% hand-crafted on-site at their McLaren Vale based Distillery Door in small batches, from the grape spirit distillation right through to bottling and packaging. Novatech Stage 2 - Adelaide Hills

8.50am    Meet outside the Hilton Hotel Adelaide

9.05am   Transfer from Victoria Square to Woodside

10.00am  Arrive Station Road, Woodside 

Experience an exclusive walk through of the Santos Tour Down Under start line and team preparation area for Novatech Stage 2 where you will view the Race start from a reserved viewing area whilst sipping coffee and nibbling on a selection of pastries provided just for you.

This stage is travelling from Woodside through the Adelaide Hills finishing in Stirling. Here you will have the opportunity to view the professionals racing through Woodside three times before boarding the bus and travelling to the finish line.

Upon arrival enjoy a Gin and Tonic provided by Settlers Spirits. Settlers Spirits is one of Australia’s most delicious handcrafted and boutique gin and spirits distillers. Following this, enjoy lunch at this prime viewing location at the Stirling Hotel as the race loops past on numerous occasions. Sit back and relax and enjoy a succulent three course lunch, all whilst watching the race live on screen. Here you will have the opportunity to view the professionals racing through Stirling three times before viewing the race finish near Stirling Oval on Mount Barker Road.

Head down to the finish line to view the Race finish from a reserved viewing area.

3.10pm    Depart Stirling Hotel for Red Cacao

3:15pm    Chocolate tasting at Red Cacao

Indulge in a chocolate tasting hosted by Red Cacao’s own chocolatier. Red Cacao is an artisan chocolatier specialising in superb chocolate creations with indulging flavours. At their cafe & dessert bar in Stirling in the Adelaide hills they offer customers a unique experience showcasing the taste of specific origins of cacao as well as coffee beans.

Be Safe Be Seen Stage 6 - McLaren Vale

8.15am  Meet outside the Hilton Hotel Adelaide

8.30am  Transfer from Adelaide to McLaren Vale   

9.40am  Arrive Main Street, McLaren Vale

Experience an exclusive walk through of the Santos Tour Down Under start line and team preparation area for Be Safe Be Seen Stage 6 where you will view the Race start from a reserved viewing area whilst sipping coffee and nibbling on a selection of pastries provided just for you.

This stage is a favourite for the spectators and will decide the official winner of the Santos Tour Down Under. The day starts in McLaren Vale, famous for its winemaking. The town is sure to be in party mode before the peloton heads for the iconic Willunga Hill, where fans flock to the side of the road to cheer on their heroes.

They don’t only make wine in the McLaren Vale – they also distil gin! Settlers Spirits is one of Australia’s most delicious handcrafted and boutique gin and spirits distillers. As a part of the McLaren Vale DeTours experience take a ride to gin heaven on a gin flight including a number of Settlers Spirits gins that will have your tastebuds singing and a paired cheese and local produce platter. Presented by Rowland Short, the owner, inspiration and distiller behind the product and brand, be entertained by his in-depth knowledge of all that makes gin great.

Enjoy a succulent lunch trackside where the race will sweep past on three occasions before finishing at the top of the iconic Willunga Hill.

The Salopian Inn in McLaren Vale reopened with an inspired refit of the original 1851 homestead. They offer contemporary Australian cuisine with a regional and seasonal menu, the home of Heirloom Vineyard wines, and an exceptional local and international wine cellar.
