Kangarilla Crowned Santos Best Dressed Town for 100% Stage 5
26 January 2020
The Kangarilla Progress Association Inc. has been awarded Santos Best Dressed Town for yesterday’s 100% Stage 5 of the Santos Tour Down Under, with a big effort from the small community creating a warm, friendly and inviting spot along the 149.1km route from Glenelg to Victor Harbor.
“Kangarilla filled the streets with balloons, streamers and bunting in Santos blue and white, and the town was alive with colour,” said the Judges.
“Homemade creative Santos signage was a highlight, with the strong community spirit shining through.”
Santos Best Dressed Private Property or Paddock was won by Bernadette Boag’s paddock in Kangarilla, with Santos bunting along the boundary fence and Australian flags adorning the property.
“Bernadette’s paddock was a deserving winner in the same category during the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under, however, we were impressed by the bigger and better display on offer yesterday to welcome the men’s race,” said the Judges.
The final category awarded on Saturday was Santos Best Dressed Commercial or Community Property, won by Goolwa Flowerworx for their explosion of colour and decoration on the main street of Goolwa.
“A combination of bikes, Santos bunting, Australian flags and various jerseys were on display, with the shop window, exterior and a car decorated as part of the entry,” said the Judges.
“Official Santos signage and homemade banners advertising the Santos Tour Down Under were the cherry on top for this entry. The Goolwa Flowerworx team was extremely enthusiastic about Goolwa being part of 100% Stage 5 and the Santos Tour Down Under.”
