Group Ride: Epic Willunga Hill - 126.6km

Sat 20th Jan 2024 at 7:00 AM

We know how many Santos Tour Down Under fans love being on a bike. That’s why we’ve partnered with AusCycling on a new series of group rides set to explore Adelaide and regional South Australia.

Rides will leave from the Tour Village in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga each morning, with timing included, partner giveaways and hill challenges on select routes.

Adelaide-based cycling clubs are hosting these new rides, which are a great way to meet other cyclists, hone skills, explore less familiar roads and log some kilometres before you watch the world’s best in action.

Location: Tour Village to Freeway - Gravel - Willunga Hill - McLaren Vale - Windy Point
Distance: 126.6km

Make your way up the freeway before passing through Crafers and Heathfield through to Scott Creek.
Tackle a small gravel section of approximately 6.5km as you make your way to Clarendon. The ride then heads to McLaren Flat before hitting the men's THINK! Road Safety Stage 5 Ziptrak Sprint location on Willunga High Street.
Participants then tackle the iconic Willunga Hill, just hours before the professionals. Stay on race route on Range Road, then continue on back to Clarendon.
Head back to the city via Blackwood and Belair and take in the views at Windy Point.

Explore the route.

All participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also registered to do the ride in the same distance in the same group. When registering for the ride, please use the Notes section to provide the parent or guardian's name on the child's entry.

All participants in the short rides (24km-53km) must be at least 13 years old on the day of the ride. All participants in the Long ride (54km - 127km) must be at least 15 years old on the day of the ride.
