About the Stage

The Barossa hosted the start of the Santos Tour Down Under. Fans had the opportunity to see the peloton pass five times throughout the day. Ziptrak® Stage 1 started and finished in Tanunda, with a large 30km circuit connecting Bethany, Angaston, Penrice and Nuriootpa.

Remember when...

Then-Under 23 Australian time trial champion Damien Howson and world road champion Phillippe Gilbert led an early breakaway from Modbury to Tanunda on the third stage of 2013? Like most Barossa stages, the break was swamped by the peloton, with André Greipel winning a record 13th stage of the race.
