AMBC XCC Short Track
6pm
Overview
Mountain Biking is on the cusp of a boom similar to what Cadel Evans did to road racing when he became the first Australian to win the Tour de France in 2011.
In a touch of irony Evans was a first class mountain bike champion - winning the UCI mountain bike world cup in 1998 - before making the switch to the road.
This event, at Eagle MTB Park in the Adelaide hills, is a superb opportunity for fans to see an event amongst a friendly club atmosphere.
The event would be an ideal way to round out the day following a beautiful stage 2 NRS finish at Lobethal, which is about a 30 minute drive from Eagle MTB.
The AMBC XCC Race will be a cross country short track format, which is usually seen as a precursor to each XCO World Cup race to determine start grid placings.
Shorter than an XCO race in both lap length and overall length, these races are usually all-out exciting attacks.
It’s a great opportunity to put the sport on a bigger pedestal.
