Tuesday 17th January 2023 Prologue Itinerary: The heart of Adelaide

The city EFEX Prologue is an exciting event first and will take place around the Adelaide Riverbank. With the action kicking off at 6.00pm, there is ample opportunities to eat, drink and explore Adelaide’s buzzing city before and after the race.

During the day...

You don’t need to look far for a good caffeine fix in Adelaide! Start your day off with a fresh brew from some of Adelaide’s finest coffee spots like Elementary, Exchange or My Kingdom for a Horse.

For a bite to eat, head for the famous Adelaide Central Markets where your senses will be delighted with all the sights, sounds and smells. Pick up some picnic essentials so you can BYO nibbles while watching the EFEX prologue along the Adelaide Riverbank later in the day.

Just a short walk from the markets is the Tour Village: the heart and soul of the Santos Tour Down Under located in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga. There’s something for everyone from the casual onlooker to the cycling fanatic - whether it’s new bikes and technology, or simply a place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere, you’ll find it at the Tour Village.

If you’re looking for a little retail therapy, Rundle Mall is the place to go. With a huge range of big brands, we have no doubt you’ll be able to shop ‘till you drop. And just a little further down the road is Rundle Street – home to some wonderful boutique stores and eateries.

For the thrill seekers, head to Adelaide Oval for the awesome RoofClimb experience. It’s the perfect way to see Adelaide from all new heights and you’ll get to take home a photo of your climb.

Settle in…

Settle in for an exciting evening of racing while overlooking the scenic Adelaide Riverbank which will play home to the very first men’s EFEX prologue event and first race of the season.

For the best spot in the house, book a BBQ Buoys experience and float along the River Torrens / Karrawirra Parri while grilling up your favourite barbecue staples as the race travels around you.

The Malt Shovel Taphouse is the perfect riverside venue to settle into for dinner. You’ll be able to overlook all the cycling action along the riverbank while enjoying a meal with a craft brew in hand.

While you’re there…

Just a short walk from the Adelaide Riverbank is a city bursting with culture, flavours, and entertainment. Sample your way around the city and experience some of the best restaurants in the state like Africola, Fugazzi, Peel Street, Osteria Oggi and Golden Boy.

Venture to rooftop bars, hidden underground bars, wine rooms and cocktail lounges along Peel Street and Leigh Street in the Adelaide CBD and discover Adelaide’s buzzing nightlife. Maybe Mae, Pink Moon Saloon, and Leigh Street Wine Room are good places to kick start your night.

For an exciting and educational experience, head for the South Australian Museum on North Terrace. Here, you’ll find an incredible collection of over four million objects and specimens in the fields of biological sciences, humanities, palaeontology and more.

Head next door to AGSA – the state’s astounding art gallery which houses more than 45,000 works of art. You can explore the permanent displays, limited exhibitions, take a guided tour or explore at your leisure.
