The centrepiece of the Santos Tour Down Under (TDU) – the City of Adelaide Tour Village – is set to welcome thousands of people into Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga for the 10-day festival of cycling from tonight.
The one-stop shop for cycling fans to experience all the event has to offer will open to the public from 5pm, with the official Team Presentation and free concert with DJ Hot Dub Time Machine to kick-start the party.
Those who get there early are also in for a treat with the first 50 people through the gates to receive a complimentary drink voucher, while food will be available from local vendors Moi An Viet Street Food, Lot 100, Taco Cartel, Baltic Fine Foods and Gelista’s pop-up ice cream station.
Onsite café Grinders on Tour will be serving coffee from an adjacent window from 6.30am each day while in the evening there are daily drink specials during ‘knock off hour’ from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
Cycling fans can wander through the Team Zone to watch the mechanics working on the riders’ bikes each day, and check out the latest tech brand and innovation in the Bike Expo, while the kids can ride over Oppy’s pump track.
After a long day in the saddle people can register for a massage in the Health Partners Recovery Zone or grab a spot to watch the day’s racing on the big screen and hear special guest interviews with commentator and cycling expert Matt Keenan in Talking Tour each evening.
