Three-time Santos Tour Down Under champion Amanda Spratt will line up in the women’s Giro d’Italia starting this weekend.
The nine-stage women’s Giro begins on Saturday, May 30 with a 139km stage for the sprinters and includes a 12km uphill individual time trial which is certain to shake up the GC on Stage 4.
Spratt comes into the race after a busy Classics campaign, and placing seventh overall in the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas last week. The 38-year-old has announced that this will be her last season in the professional peloton.
She is one of three Aussies in the Giro alongside Georgia Baker, who also rode the Classics and Vuelta a Burgos Feminas and will be part of the Australian Liv AlUla Jayco team.
South Australian Katelyn Nicholson returns to the Giro for the second time, having graduated from Team Butterfields Ziptrak to the European peloton in the past 12 months.
Another rider to keep an eye on will be New Zealander Ally Wollaston who won two stages of this year’s TDU and will be lining up with FDJ United – Suez.
