Cycling enthusiast itinerary
Follow the peloton to key viewing locations and experience the race from some of the best vantage points on the route. Designed for dedicated fans who want to see more of the cycling action.
Before the race:
🚴 Ride from Adelaide to the start line on Main Street, Lobethal
Arrive early at the start line | From 8:30am
Get to the start line early to soak up the atmosphere before racing gets underway. Arriving by 8:30am gives you time to grab a coffee and secure a great viewing spot before the Tour Parade arrives.
See the Tour Parade | From 8:50am
The Tour Parade is your first taste of the action. Watch the colourful convoy of promotional vehicles roll through the start line, bringing plenty of energy – and keep an eye out for giveaways, merchandise and more along the way. The Tour Parade departs the start line at 10:10am.
Get close to the riders | From 9:20am
The race convoy arrives from 9:20am, as riders and teams begin their final preparations. Find a spot along the barriers near rider sign-on for one of the best opportunities to see the world’s best cyclists up close before they take to the start line.
During the race:
Race start and festivities | From 10:30am
The start & finish line precinct comes to life from 10:30am. Watch the riders roll out at 10:40am, then stay to enjoy our dedicated fan zones and big screens broadcasting the race live, so you can follow all the action as it unfolds. More information coming soon.

🚴 Ride from Lobethal to Corkscrew Road, Montacute to catch all the action of the iconic Corkscrew climb. This vantage point is reserved for the riders, with no car parking available.
Corkscrew Road | Arrive by 1:00pm
Set up at Corkscrew Road and enjoy the atmosphere ahead of the climbs. You can see the Tour Parade pass approx. 30 minutes before the riders are scheduled to pass. Watch the riders tackle the second two efex King of the Mountain contests for the day (approx. 1:58pm & 2:22pm). You’ll see the final pass approx. 8 minutes before the race finish.
Post race:
Explore the best of the Adelaide Hills | From 2:30pm
Refuel at a local café, bakery or pub, or continue exploring the Adelaide Hills by bike.

🚗 Drive to the finish line at Foxfield Oval on Maryvale Road, Athelstone
⚠️ Plan ahead for road closures: Roads along the race route will progressively close ahead of the peloton, with rolling closures generally in place from approximately 20 minutes before the race passes through. Plan your journey in advance and allow extra time to reach your chosen viewing location. (Note: plan for the rolling road closure 20 minutes before the first riders’ arrival, green light vehicle signals the road has reopened). More info coming soon.
During the race and race finish:

Arrive at the finish line at Foxfield Oval on Maryvale Road in Athelstone enjoy our dedicated fan zones and big screens broadcasting the race live, so you can follow all the action as it unfolds. More information coming soon.
Watch the efex Stage 3 finish at approx. 2:41pm and see who claims the victory. Then stay for the podium presentations, which typically begin 10 to 15 minutes after the winner crosses the line and run for approximately 15 minutes.

The City of Adelaide Tour Village is the home of the Santos Tour Down Under. Located in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, this central city hub features the Team Zone, Bike Expo and activities for families and cycling fans of all ages.

Corkscrew Road, Montacute
Australia’s answer to the Alpe d’Huez. This is where champions come out to play. Riders will conquer it twice during the final 25 kilometres of this decisive third stage.

Campbelltown
Tree-lined Maryvale Road will host one pass through, then the stage finish after a fast and furious descent down Montacute Road. Be roadside to welcome the day’s winner, then stroll across to adjacent Foxfield Oval where the podium presentation will take place.

The riders will arrive approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes before the race starts.
Yes, as long as you're behind the barriers and respecting the riders who are preparing to race, you're welcome to ask for autographs.
Depending on the stage, parking can be limited. We recommend looking at our stage maps and planning ahead.

After every race, the race leaders are presented on a podium not far from the finish line. The podium location varies depending on the stage, but follow the crowd and you'll find yourself there.
Aim to arrive at the start line 30 to 60 minutes prior to the race start. Grab a coffee, see the riders sign-on and snag yourself a signature.
This depends on what stage you plan on attending. If you just want to see the start or finish line action, you might only need between one to two hours. If you plan on watching more of the race, allow approximately three to six hours. There's plenty of events that surround the stages for you to explore.
