From 16–25 January 2026, Adelaide will once again take centre stage as it hosts the Santos Tour Down Under, Australia’s premier cycling event and the first stop on the UCI WorldTour calendar.  This internationally renowned race brings together the world’s top cyclists and teams for ten thrilling days of racing, entertainment, and festival action across South Australia.

To help deliver this world-class event, we’re looking for 100 passionate and dedicated volunteers, alongside 400 essential traffic marshals who will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the race across all stages.

Why Volunteer?

Key requirements for volunteering

 

Volunteers must:

 

Be enthusiastic and have a positive attitude.

Be over 18 years of age.

Provide a Working with Children Clearance (WWCC)

Be able to speak and read English language fluently.

Have general knowledge about Adelaide and surrounding regions.

Attend compulsory volunteer briefing

Be generally fit and active as there are physical requirements for standing for long period of time and any operational work.

Able to work onsite from as early as 6.00am. Breaks will be given as required.

Fulfill roster commitments for a variety of shifts. Preferred available dates will be discussed on application.

We are looking to appoint 150 event volunteers along with 400 traffic marshals for the 2026 Santos Tour Down Under.

We’re seeking volunteers who bring a positive attitude, enjoy working in a team, are approachable and friendly, can commit to multiple shifts during the event period, and are proud ambassadors for Adelaide and the 2026 Santos Tour Down Under.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the local community to be part of a world-class cycling event and to show their pride for Adelaide and South Australia. However, you don’t need to be an Adelaide resident to volunteer.

Please note you will need to arrange your own travel and accommodation for the duration of the event.

All volunteers will receive:

  • An exclusive event uniform (polo, cap and accreditation)
  • A meal during each shift
  • Access to an incentive rewards program for volunteers who complete multiple shifts

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old by 1 January 2026 to be eligible. Volunteers under 18 may be considered for Stage Assistant roles.

The Santos Tour Down Under and South Australian Tourism Commission reserve the right to conduct criminal history and Working With Children checks as part of the volunteer application process.

Yes. Volunteers are covered by the Santos Tour Down Under personal accident insurance policy. This is not private health insurance, but it covers you for accidents incurred while you are performing your duties as a volunteer. 

Shift lengths vary by role and stage of the event. Some shifts may be all day, while others are morning or afternoon only. Detailed position descriptions with shift information are available for download on the website. Regular breaks and a free meal are provided during each shift.

Most volunteer roles require standing or walking for extended periods as the event is outdoors. This is clearly outlined in each role’s description on the website.

Yes. All volunteers receive event accreditation, a polo shirt, and a hat, which must be worn during shifts. Volunteers are responsible for providing plain black, navy, or white shorts, pants, or skirts to wear with the polo.

Clothing must be clean and free from advertising, logos, religious, or political slogans. Enclosed shoes are mandatory.

Volunteer health and safety is a priority. Breaks are encouraged depending on shift length, and meals and refreshments will be provided. We aim to offer a variety of menu options to accommodate common dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free choices.
