Get excited and get involved, from 21-29 January with activities for cycling enthusiasts, food and wine lovers and festival fanatics. Explore our top 6 things to see and do at the Santos Festival of Cycling:

  1. Go beyond the road with other cycling disciplines

Kicking off on Friday 21 January with the Adelaide Track League event at Adelaide Superdome, the Santos Festival of Cycling’s dynamic nine-day program celebrates everything that is great about cycling and its various disciplines. On-road, off-road, sprint, endurance, and obstacle-based, we have your summer covered for adrenaline-filled cycling action. The multiple cycling disciplines on show include road, track, BMX, mountain biking and cyclo-cross, with some of Australia’s best talent competing.

  1. Watch UCI WorldTour riders battle it out in both the men’s & women’s road race

An exciting three-stage men’s and women’s road race will travel through South Australia’s picturesque Barossa, Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula regions as Australia’s best cyclists battle for supremacy. Three past winners, 10 UCI WorldTour riders and four UCI WorldTeams are set to join the Santos Festival of Cycling peloton. Grace Brown, Richie Porte and Luke Plapp will ride for Team Garmin, while Australia’s Team BikeExchange-JAYCO will have six of its WorldTour riders including Alex Manly, Ruby Roseman-Gannon, Georgia Baker, Luke Durbridge and Cameron Meyer. Two-time Santos Tour Down Under winner Richie Porte – who in 2020 finished third at the Tour de France – will join the 2022 roster in an attempt to retain his King of the Mountain crown for Willunga Hill during the Be Safe Be Seen Men’s Stage 3.  Also joining the peloton: Olympic bronze medallist and 2015 TDU winner Rohan Dennis and Chris Harper, both returning to their home state of South Australia to compete under the Team Jumbo Visma’s colours at the 2022 event.

  1. Watch Paralympians in the Paracycling events

We couldn't be prouder of the efforts of the Australian Paralympians at the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games, and the Santos Festival of Cycling will be your chance to get up close and personal with the same athletes who came home with medals from Tokyo. Following a successful campaign, we’re excited to have the Australian Paralympians at the Santos Festival of Cycling for the Santos Para-Cycling Team Relay. Taking place on the Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga Criterium track, we’ll see Paralympic athletes from all categories on the course. Expect to see bikes, trikes, hand cyclists and more.

  1. Go on a group ride

Want to be part of the action in 2022? From free guided rides around the city to regional group rides with food and drink included, there’s a way for everyone to get riding at this year’s Santos Festival of Cycling. Ride Holidays host ego-free, inclusive group rides for 10-12 cyclists of all abilities, with three daily ride groups celebrating the very best of each region. VeloAdelaide offers free, fun, safe and welcoming riding activities for young and old.
